I have heard there is a term "land hook" that can be used on survey maps for
tying parcles together. Looking for a referance defining this term and
examples of it's use.
Thanks in advance,

A land hook is simply two parcels with the same owner..... around these
parts, anyway. It may be different elsewhere.

My question relative to New York State only and is there special
requirement such as being contiguious besides the same owner?

In my experience a land hook is a small symbol used on maps along a line
which is used to denote that the parcel designation or owner crosses the
given line (is on both sides of the line). It is very common in GLO or
BLM survey plats. I will try to find a link to an example from the BLM
Manual of Surveying instruections. Okay here is one, not a great example
but:

In this case the land hooks indicate that lots 3 and 4 of section 17
cross the centerline of the section.
